Memories

The story

If you guys read the 'about' section, you know that I'm quite new to videography, but eager to explore it. When I decided to grow my following on my arty Instagram account -back in January -I also came up with the idea of learning how to edit videos and improving my creative writing skills.

So,

I chose a topic that I've been wanting to explore and could express my thoughts and feelings on in an artistic way. As you guessed from the title, I chose the topic of memories. Why we have them and why they matter. I was very much at a 'spiritual awakening' state of mind those days. (Yes, I do have those days πŸ˜…) All I could think about for weeks, was the "meaning of life" type of question. - hoooo, very deep πŸ‘». But for real.

This video taught me how to use Premiere Pro and also that video editing takes longer than you would first think. πŸ˜… Going through hours of footage to get the right moment. You get to the end of the video and you would think you're done, but don't be happy too soon, because when you start watching it, you start to spot mistakes and rooms for improvement so you keep making changes to it over and over. Sometimes happy accidents happen. When you didn't mean to do something, but you kinda like it, so you keep it. Also, that inspiration and ideas may hit you down the line, and if that happens, appreciate it and go along with it.

The project

When I knew I'm going to do a video about memories, I started preparing by recording random moments of my days (me walking, looking up the sky, traveling on the train etc) for about 2 months. When I started editing, I realised I could use old footages from my phone and old SD cards, and that gave me a lot more room to make my point.

Initially I predicted it to take about 2-3 days to edit the video. Well...it turned out be 2 weeks to get to the final version, and it's still not perfect but I thought it's presentable enough to share. I posted it on my personal Facebook account, and it ended up being to most liked and commented post I've ever posted. (Just because I haven't got pregnant or engaged yet) 😁

The result

Creating artwork takes a lot of time and work, but it's worth it because it sets the artist free and connects them with people. Whenever I want to create something I make sure I have the tools first, then I set my intention. The only thing I have left to do is just to allow my heart to speak and I follow the thoughts generated by my feelings. That's how I know the result will be something that will make my audience feel.

Hope you enjoy it xx
